Langland is reputed to have been born in Cleobury and here,
in this detail from the East window of St.Mary's Church, he
dreams his 'Vision of Piers Plowman'. This legthy alliterative
poem is second only in importance to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales
amongst mediaeval literature. A plaque in the church porch also
commemorates

association, but sadly very little is known about his life,
apart from the information contained in his vision.
